The High-Level Conference on Climate Change Assessment and Adaptation in the Arab Region launched the ‘Arab Climate Change Assessment Report,’ along with a series of technical outputs and training materials. A workshop to advance the formulation and implementation of Morocco’s NAP helped reduce the country’s vulnerability to climate change and integrate climate change adaptation into ongoing development planning processes.

Online Database Accelerates Progress Towards Climate Goals

The NDC Toolbox Navigator aims to contribute to achieving the targets embodied within countries’ national climate plans and NDCs through concrete actions. The searchable database allows users to generate tailored results, including for specific activities, regions, level of expertise or language. The comprehensive set of resources accessible through the NDC Toolbox Navigator enables countries to benefit from sharing best practice to most effectively translate their climate targets into actionable policies.

CCAC Prepares Communiqué for High-Level Assembly at COP 23

The 21st meeting of the CCAC Working Group aimed to prepare for the CCAC High Level Assembly and focus on the CCAC objective of leveraging finance at scale. It also sought to consider the draft CCAC finance strategy, discuss the proposed Pathway Approach for SLCPs to achieve sustainable development and limit the global temperature rise to under 2°C above preindustrial levels, and assess progress on metrics as a follow-up to the April 2017 Working Group meeting.

OECD Publication Explores Impacts and Trade-Offs from Land-Energy-Water Nexus

The report addresses the global and regional biophysical and economic consequences by 2060 of policy inaction given limited, but interlinked, land, water and energy resources. One impact reflected in all nexus scenarios is the deterioration of food and water security, which could disproportionately affect the poor. The report finds less conclusive evidence for energy security, noting that the large traded volumes of energy and the availability of alternative energy sources “imply that supply risks are fairly low.”

UNDP Co-Convenes Development Cooperation, South-South Events in New York

The featured climate action projects, or Lighthouse Activities, focus on women’s leadership and participation in tackling climate change, financing for climate-friendly investment, and information and communication technologies. The report constitutes the 2016 annual report of the UNFCCC Momentum for Change initiative.

Since mid-February 2017, 34 countries have joined the Paris Agreement. The countries to join the treaty are: Andorra, Armenia, Belgium, Bhutan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cabo Verde, Congo, Croatia, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, El Salvador, Ethiopia, Georgia, Haiti, Jamaica, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Malawi, Mauritania, Moldova, Myanmar, the Netherlands, Nigeria, the Philippines, Qatar, Romania, Serbia, Sudan, Tajikistan, Timor-Leste, Togo, Venezuela and Zimbabwe.

WFP Report Reveals Funding Gap in International Food Assistance
